Valentine's Day Activities

Here is a look at some of the Valentine's themed things we have been doing this week.

Sensory Basket- Feathers, Cotton Balls, Pom Poms, and Confetti

Sensory Bin- Pick Rice, Clear Marbles, and Confetti

Making Valentines-  I set out pink and silver stamp pads, heart/love themed stamps and paper so that she could make special Valentine's for her family and friends.

This is what she looked like at the end of her Valentine's making project.

Lunch Time Fun- Pink noodles with butter.
Just add a couple drops of food coloring to the noodles as they cook.

Here are some pictures of our Valentine's Water Play activity.
Water (dyed pink with food coloring), glitter, and heart shaped foam
We added some pink, scented foam soap to make it more of a sensory activity.
We also added some cotton balls.  She loved covering the cotton balls with foam,
dropping them into the water, and watching them sink.
Then she would grab the foam off the top of the water and start over.

Heart Volcanoes
I put baking soda in heart shaped candy molds.
I added a couple of drops of red food coloring to the bigger hearts.

I mixed red food coloring in a cup of vinegar and gave it to
Grace along with some medicine droppers.

She really enjoyed making heart volcanoes.

Using the medicine droppers was a great way for her to practice fine motor skills

This was taken towards the end of the activity.  You can see that some are pink while others are more red.  This is because about half way through Grace wanted to add more red food coloring to the vinegar.  I love that we ended up with different shades.  I think next time we do this type of activity I will add more color through out the activity so we end up with a wide variety of shades.

    1. Thank you! She loved eating them. We also made some just to play with. She used the pink noodles to make shapes and letters.
